Things You Must Know about Farts

Farts are made up of intestinal gas also known as flatulence. The formation of a fart takes place inside your intestines, when the food we swallow brings along with it a mixture of gases like oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. These gases also enter the body while we take in our food and some gases are formed inside our stomach when digestion takes place. Gases such as methane also mix up with the existing gases when the food is broken down in our body and hence these gases sooner or longer finds a way out of the body when they cannot stay any longer. When these gases escape from our large intestines from the anal opening, then a certain gas is released that has a smell and while releasing produces a sound. This is known as a fart.

Farts are smelly because a combination of hydrogen, methane sulfide when mixed with ammonia makes a very bad odor which comes along with the gas when it is released. However, farting is a completely natural process that takes place in animals and human beings both. Many animals like dogs, cats also fart however in social gatherings and religious surroundings, farting in public is considered a bad manner and people should avoid doing so and use a washroom instead. People who have constant farting problem means that gas develops in their stomach and they should cut down the amount oily and greasy food and also food like onions and tomatoes and increase healthy fruits and vegetables in their diets and also fiber rich diets that are rich in fiber that helps in the smooth metabolism of the body.

The excretion point of fart is the anal opening present in the buttocks and as soon as it is given out, it starts to smell but the smell reaches an average person’s nostrils after sometime. The time a fart takes to travel depends on many environmental factors too like speed of wind, humidity and temperature and that is why it depends. About half a liter of gas is produced by a person daily and that is given out through farts. In order to examine how your own body works, a person can note down his or her daily intake of processed foods and foods having no fruits and vegetables and know the difference between both the diets and how the intestines responds to them.
